Grid power voltage can vary by plus or minus 10% so its important your power transformer can handle the voltage irregularity.
Low Voltage Landscape Lighting Wire size
Adequate wire gauge is a very important point to consider for any electrical project and there are regulations for the size of wire used in High Voltage AC applications. As these regulations vary from country to country check with your local authorities or local electrician.
Generally smaller wattage AC to DC Power Transformers and Drivers will come pre-wired with a plug and cord suitable for your countries regulations and requirements.
With Low Voltage DC Lighting the cable size is not regulated by most countries but needless to say it will be heavier or larger than the AC cable. This is due to voltage drop over distance and described by "Direct Current".
The higher the wattage you project is the heavier your cable will need to be. The voltage drop will be less when using larger size cable. Larger wire gauge size greatly improves performance.
